Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST):
Admission in JNV Gondia is made on the basis of a selection Test designed and conducted by the CBSE.The test is called JNVST.It is of non verbal nature, class-neutral and designed so as to ensure that taleted children from rural areas are able to compete without facing any disadvantage.Special care is taken to ensure that children from far flung areas get admission forms free of cost without any difficulty.Sufficient publicity is done through local newspapers, pamphlets , vidyalaya website, visits of Principal and teachers of JNV Gondia to local schools of the district.A total over 12000 students applied for JNVST-2018 for admission in class-VI in JNV Gondia.
To appear in the selection test, a candidate has to fulfill the following eligibility conditions:
For all candidates
a)Only candidates from the district where the JNV has been opened are eligible to apply for admission.
b)Candidates appearing for the selection test must be studing in class V for the entire academic session in a Government/Govenment aided , other recognised school.A candidate must successfully complete class-V.
(c)A candidate seeking admission must be within the age group of 9 to 13 years. This will be applied on candidates of all categories including those who belong to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
(d)A candidate claiming admission from rural quota must have studied and passed class III, IV and V from Government/Government aided/ recognised school spending one full academic session each year in a school located in a rural area.
(e)A candidate who have studied in a school located in an urban area even for a single day of a session in any class III, IV or V will be considered as an Urban area candidate.
(f)A candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to class V before 30 September is not eligible to apply.
(g)No candidate is eligible to appear in selection test for a second time under any circumstances.
Reservation for Rural, SC/ST, Girls and disabled children
(a) At least 75% of the seats in a district will be filled by candidates selected from rural areas and remaining seats will be filled up from the urban areas of the district.
(b)These is provision fpr reservation of seats for Scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates in proportion to their population in the district but not less than the national average.
(c) One third of the seats are for girl students.
(d) There is provision for reservation of 3% seats for disabled children (i.e orthopaedically handicapped, hearing impaired and visually handicapped)
The medium of the selection test will be any language out of 21 languages as notified including English, Hindi and Marathi.

Conduct of selection test for class IX -lateral entry:
In order to optimally utilise the infrastructure and staff facilities available in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Gondia, vacant seats in class IX are filled up through selection Test. During 2018-19 about 900 candidates applied for admission in class IX through lateral entry.
To appear in the selection test through lateral entry in class IX , a candidate has to fulfill the following eligibility conditions:-
(a) Only those candidates who have studied in class VIII in one of the Government/ Government recognised schools of the district where the JNV is functioning can seek admission in class IX.
(b) A candidate seeking admission must be between the age group 13-16 years on 1 st May of the year of the admission for which the selection test is conducted.This is applied on all categories of candidates including those who belong to the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe.
Medium of language for examination is English/Hindi.
2.Composition of test for class IX
Admission test consists of questions of class VIII standard in the following subjects.

The test is conducted in objective/descriptive type with 3 hours duration without any break.
Centre for Selection Test class IX examination is Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya of the concerned district itself.
